Teena awarded the Solano County Living Legacy Award!
Teena was Awarded the 2015 Solano County Living Legacy Award for her contributions to the well being of Solano County seniors, veterans with PTSD, and many many challenged individuals in mental health care to Independent and Memory Care Residents.
I wanted to share that I was totally surprised and shocked and extremely honored to be awarded (in a new category for this year and thereafter) "businesses that bring a service to the seniors in Solano County," and I am one of the first recipients of this award-my my.
The dignitaries who spoke were all around me - to the left of me was Vallejo City Council Woman Pippin Dew Costa, who nominated me for the award, and Solano County Supervisor Linda Seifert. To the right of me, was Solano County Supervisor and Chair Erin Hannigan.
Also to my left, was the emcee organizer who read my biography and "why I do what I do." I don't even know where she got her information!
It was a fun afternoon, and I am deeply grateful to be the recipient of these honors from the county (all the supervisors signed a proclamation), from the state (State Senator Lois Wolk and the California State Assembly signed a beautiful proclamation to me), and from Congress (Congressman Mike Thompson signed a beautiful proclamation to me). It warms my heart to be acknowledged for the work I do with Laughter Yoga for so many seniors around the county (from Vallejo and Benicia to Vacaville and Fairfield and Travis Air Force Base and Kaiser Hospital Rehab Department) and many diverse age groups in-between. And I give praise to Dr. Madan Kataria for creating Laughter Yoga and his great work around the world.
